Canadian First-Aid Training Ltd. have been involved with the Heart and Stroke Manitoba & Canada to place hundreds of donated AEDs in the past few years! It's worth a try!

How shovelling snow can 'shock' your heart

Digging yourself out after a large snowfall can be "a shock to the system," says Matthew Mayer, a senior specialist of research at the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

"We know that most Canadians are inactive and in most cases unfit, and when we get these big snowfalls and go out shovelling, sometimes, the literal physical stress we put on our body is just too much."

AED defibrillator helps save teen hockey player's life.

13-year-old Ali Khaleghi's heart stopped during hockey game in North York Ontario on November 14th.
The arena operator says they're lucky that the right equipment and people were on site to save Khaleghi.
Two persons began CPR and used the Automated External Defibrillator on site to save his life.

Ali is now is still inhospital but breathing on his own!

Defibrillator Law (AEDs) - Manitoba Update

~Manitoba is the first province to pass the Public Access Defibrillator Act - Bill 20 making AEDs available in public places!

Further to this, the Government of Manitoba has since placed 1,000 AEDs to public places in Manitoba! For a list of the places required to have AEDs installed in their locations click on the following link:

Hockey teammates receive award for saving fellow player's life !!

"Two Winnipeg men who saved a teammate's life during a hockey game in December are being recognized by the city's fire department for their quick actions.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service awarded its first Citizen Recognition Award on Tuesday to Ron Klippenstein and Dan Szun, who came to the aid of Jim Kirby when he suffered a heart attack at the Glenwood Community Centre during a regular pickup game on Dec. 14.

Officials noted that the AED at the Glenwood Community Centre, which was donated by Crosstown Credit Union, had been used for one other medical emergency prior to Kirby's heart attack."
